What Is Art? Who Is An Artist?

What defines the word "Artist"? In my opinion, It depends from person to person. But to most people, at least here, an artist is someone who draws and paints a picture. By definition, yeah maybe. They're even the only artists out there you might say.

But what about Martin Scorsese? A guy who could make you fall in love and empathize with a character in a movie who is morally wrong in every way from the societal point of view?

What about Wong-Kar-Wai? A guy who makes movies across the ocean, whose language I don't speak, Yet.... Makes movies that are so relatable to me and every person on the goddamn planet whether we were in a relationship in real life or not. 

What about the person who is so determined to give people a different cinematic experience like Christopher Nolan and Dennis Villeneuve?

What about Joachim Trier? Thomas Vinterburg? Park Chan-Wook? Bong Joon-Ho? 

The list goes on and on. 

Parenting

(Before I begin to cascade my thoughts for this part, I just wanna say one thing to you guys.

I don't know why I melt over those little buggers (kids) even though I'm a lonely 23-year-old. Just putting it out there)

Like a potter trying to shape the pot meticulously, a parent get to shape a human's mind. It is a literal act of an artist. An art cannot be defined better than this. 

Whatever you say consciously or unconsciously in front of 'em or not in front of 'em gets in their head. They're living up to a parent. It is meticulous job.

There is one difference though when it comes art and parenting..

You can either go right or wrong being a parent. No second chances.

You can't erase a trauma like you can with a painting.

Other stuff

We see a bunch of people who are trying to put a smile on other people's faces. YouTube is a great source for that.

Like a bike rider who gives flowers to random person(s) to make their day. 

Like someone who genuinely wants to efface people's hunger on the streets by providing meal.

Like someone who is pulling him/herself from the ton of mistakes they have made and trying to recover from them both physically and mentally?

Whenever I come I across these people, which I do so rarely btw, I feel like they're always one step ahead of us.

One quote from Bruce Lee struck my mind when I let my thoughts wander in this forest... "Be water, my friend"

That is appropriate for Art as well. 

Art and artist is like water. A shapeless form/creature.

Art can be anything. An artist can be anyone. I guess it's just how we see it.

(The part where I talked about someone recovering mentally and physically... Yes of course I was talking about Batman. At least I got one thing in common with that dude 🦇 )
